"All In The Family"   32" x 48" Grande Giclée

The 2011 BCS National Championship Game, played at the University of Phoenix Stadium on January 10, 2011, featured the No. 1 Auburn Tigers (13-0) of the Southeastern Conference against the No. 2 Oregon Ducks (12-0) of the Pacific Ten. Auburn, with second-year head coach Gene Chizik, was led by Heisman Trophy winner quarterback Cameron Newton and Lombardi Award winner defensive tackle Nick Fairley. Auburn prides itself in being a family, and their statement all year was, “we are all in.” When America’s Sports Artist, Rick Rush, started his work on Auburn’s BCS Championship, he titled it appropriately, All in The Family.

Oregon's high-speed offense was expected by many to run circles around the physically larger Auburn defense, scoring quick and often - but instead, it was Auburn's defense that made the offense look winded. Led by defensive tackle Nick Fairley, Auburn held Oregon on its first possession to seven yards. Demond Washington intercepted Oregon on their second possession. Zac Etheridge came up with an interception on their third possession. On the Ducks' fourth possession, leading into the second quarter, Oregon was stopped on Auburn's nine yard line, denied a touchdown but kicked a field goal to lead 3-0.

Auburn answered that field goal with an 82-yard, eight play touchdown drive. Cameron Newton hit former quarterback Kodi Burns on a thirty-five yard pass for a touchdown to give Auburn a 7-3 lead. Kodi's touchdown is featured in the middle ground on the right-hand side of All In The Family.

Oregon replied with a 93-yard, four play touchdown of their own – giving them the lead at 11-7. That lead was only temporary, though, as the momentum was gradually slipping away from the Ducks, while the Tigers seemed to be only warming up. First, Auburn scored a safety. Then, Cameron Newton nailed a thirty-yard pass to Emory Blake for a touchdown. The first half ended with Auburn leading 16-11.

On the first drive of the second half, Auburn increased its lead to 19-11 when Wes Byrum kicked a twenty-eight field goal. The remainder of the quarter was scoreless, but no less exciting. At the end of the quarter, Oregon's Darron Thomas connected with Lavasier Tuinei for forty-three yards down to Auburn's three-yard line. The Tiger defense pushed back, and the Ducks lost three yards on the following carry. They rushed again for one yard, and then again for four – on fourth and goal, at the Auburn one-yard line, the Ducks plunged forward – facemask-first into Nick Fairley. The goal-line stand that ended the third quarter is featured on the left-hand side of the middleground of All In The Family.

In the fourth quarter, both teams exchanged fruitless drives into the enemy red-zone until Oregon, with four minutes remaining, tied the game with touchdown and two-point conversion.

With two minutes on the clock, Michael Dyer appeared to be tackled after an eight-yard rush, but after falling on top of the defender, his knees never touching the ground, resumed the rush for a total gain of thirty-seven yards. The hand-off from Cameron Newton to Michael Dyer is the focal point of All In The Family, with the center of the middle ground featuring the defining moment of Dyer's thirty-seven yard play.

With only two seconds remaining on the clock, Auburn's Wes Byrum kicked the game winning 19-yard field goal as time expired. Byrum is on the right-hand side of the middle ground of All In The Family. The Auburn Tigers, winning 22-19, secured their second National Championship and the Southeastern Conference's fifth consecutive BCS trophy.
