The people of St. Louis had a dream.

Their dream was to have a parade down Market Street for the St. Louis Blues. At the end of that parade, they envisioned for the Blues to hoist the Stanley Cup as Champions of the National Hockey League. Well, that dream became a reality for the first time in history on June 12, 2019. The St. Louis Blues won the NHL Championship and possession of The Stanley Cup.

America’s Sports Artist, Rick Rush was commissioned to capture this historic moment in the National Hockey League and the history of the Blues. He has suspended this image in space and time for others to remember, relive and reflect on the fantastic victory for St. Louis and, especially for the St. Louis Blues.

In telling this “Big Story” visually of the Blues Stanley Cup Championship, Rush (and the Blues) wanted to portray the story of  St. Louis’s hockey history from the Arena to the Enterprise Center and from the iconic players of the past to each team member of this historic St. Louis Championship.

On the front of the Arena the nostalgic neon marquee lights up the night sky and hanging in the ceiling are the retired jersey banners of great Blues players. Also suspended in the roofline of the Enterprise Center is the jumbo-tron which shows Coach Craig Berube and Team Captain, Alex Pietrangelo on the screen. To honor each player of this historic Cup Championship team, all the players are part of the on-ice Celebration in the Mid-ground.

In the foreground are three of the significant St. Louis players whose outstanding play helped St. Louis capture this historic Stanley Cup Win; Vladimir Tarasenko, Jordan Binnington and MVP, Ryan O’Reilly. You will also note that the left side of the wall is of Boston’s arena where the Blues won Lord Stanley’s Cup in the 7th game by a score of 4 – 1 and took it away from the Bruins and brought it home.  Likewise, the right side of the arena is of the Enterprise Center where the Blues brought the Cup home to St. Louis. Additionally, there are certain people, symbols and marks in the painting; like the players painting their personal mark on the Stanley Cup,  that helps tell a part of the past and present history of this unbelievable Blues Stanley Cup Championship. These Blues players put their own, personal mark on the history of the Nation Hockey League, the Stanley Cup Championship, the City of St. Louis and the St. Louis Blues. Go Blues!
